bloggers to share their baking recipes, and non-bloggers to find new
recipes to whet their appetite. This post contains a full round up of November’s bakes and I also highlight what I made from the collection!
Last months #BakingCrumbs linky was super exciting. Not only were there a number of Christmas themed bakes being linked up, which I’ll share with you momentarily, but there were also some new faces / bloggers joining in with the baking fun which is really great to see. Welcome to Charlotte, Anna and Rachna! And it’s always lovely to see bloggers who are becoming regulars to the baking party ?
With Christmas sneaking upon us rather quickly I’m going to start the round up looking at the Christmas themed bakes! Not only do we have some fab Christmas cupcakes that I’m sure will tickle your fancy, but there are also a couple of Christmas Pudding ideas, perfect if you’ve not made one yet, and some more bakes which won’t look out of place of a Christmas buffet table. But it’s not all been about Christmas, there are plenty of other recipes to drool over look at too!

- These Gingerbread Cupcakes, made by Kat of The Baking Explorer scream of Christmas! Who can fail to be tempted by the popular gingerbread flavours and aromas, not to mention the supercute gingerbread men sprinkles!
- Charlotte, who blogs over at Charlotte’s Lively Kitchen, has shared 5 Christmas themed buttercreams and started the ball rolling with her Chocolate Orange Cupcakes with Chocolate Orange Buttercream. It sounds like a proper crowd pleaser to me! Do check out her other festive flavoured buttercreams if your in need of some new ideas.
- Our Christmas Robin Cupcakes are perfect for parties over the festive season, and are sure to put a smile on the face of all kids, big and little! They’re really easy to make with most of the fondant shaping been done with a cookie cutter!
- My Christmas Pudding recipe includes
the popular flavour combination of chocolate orange, and although they
are traditionally made on Stir-up Sunday, the last Sunday before
lent, this pudding will still be great if you were to make it now!
- Or how about trying a Cloutie Dumpling for
your Christmas dessert this year? Rebecca shares a gluten free version
of this Scottish traditional dessert which she tells us is lighter
than a Christmas Pudding.
More Bakes Perfect for Christmas
- If you’re looking for a light yet flavoursome loaf cake for the festive
season that still screams Christmas, then can I suggest trying Lucy’s Cranberry and Orange Loaf Cake with Mulled Orange Icing.
- If you’re a marzipan lover, like Corina from Searching for Spice and myself, then you must check out her recipe for Almond Rolls, which, having read the recipe, are super easy to make!
- Pecan Pie
is one of those Autumn treats I’ve yet to try, but having read Anna’s
recipe describing the ‘crumbly flaky pastry’, ‘caramelly goo’ and
‘praline like pecans’ as well as admire her inviting images, this dessert
has swiftly been added to my ‘to make list’!
- Jacqui’s Craquelin Choux Buns with Brandied Apples and Cream
sound as sophisticated as they look! They’re certainly more special
than a regular profiterol having been topped with a biscuit like dough
which ‘crackles’ so temptingly during the bake and that’s before we even
thing about that filling of apples and brandy!
- Doesn’t that delicious swirl of cinnamon & hazelnut look very inviting in Jacqui’s Babka recipe. And by following the link to her recipe you’ll soon see, with the help of step-by-step images, how easy it is to shape.
- Monika’s Baked Banana Wholemeal Bread with Sea Salt
sounds so fascinating. Not only does she include sea salt in the
mixture which no doubt helps lift the flavour of all of the wonderful
ingredients but she also bakes her bananas for 30 minutes to bring out
their natural sweetness and juice before everything is mixed together
and baked into a loaf.

- Midge’s Vegan Pumpkin & Carrot Cake
looks so festive having been topped with vibrant green pistachios. And
let’s not forget to mention the liberal drizzle of salted caramel
- Rebecca tells us her Gluten Free Salted Chocolate Tart is death by chocolate. I for one am prepared to take the risk!
- If, like me, you’ve assumed that to make a great gluten free Victoria
sponge cake simply meant substituting the wheat flour for a GF blend,
then you need to check out Kate’s recipe for a simple but perfect Gluten Free Victoria Sandwich Cake.
Here she explains that Gluten Free flours behave differently and so has
spent the time to perfect and adjust the ratios in her GF version.
- How wonderful does this chocolate cake look , with its chocolate
frosting, raspberries & celebratory candle! You’ll never believe
that it’s egg free, butter free and was baked in a microwave! Check out
Rachna’s recipe for Microwave egg-less chocolate cake, along with her top tips!
Cakes & Cheesecake
- Semi naked cakes are incredibly popular at the moment, and this Spiced Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting from Cat at Curly’s Cooking certainly looks to be one to try.
- If you’re looking for a birthday cake with a twist, how about checking out Johanna’s tutorial for How to make a Loch Ness Monster Cake. It’s so much fun!
- Rebecca’s Chocolate Layer Cheesecake looks like an absolute dream! Plus as she explains, it’s super easy to make it gluten free too!
- Johanna has been on a doughnut fest recently and her most recent creation are these Chocolate Overnight Sourdough Doughnuts,
which must have tasted amazing given that each one was named according
to the sprinkles and embellishments used to finish each one off!
- If you’re looking for a low refined sugar treat before the over
indulgence of Christmas properly kicks in (or pin it for the new year!)
then check out Jo’s Healthier Date and Banana Flapjacks.
- The colourful icing used to decorate my Iced Almond Biscuits
is tinted with jam rather than an artificial colourant. Not only
does it make the biscuit taste even more yummy, but it also removes any concern
What we recreated in the Only Crumbs Remain kitchen this month…
This month, with the run up to Christmas, it seemed fitting to try one of the Christmas themed bakes linked up to #BakingCrumbs. The one which particularly caught my eye was Kat’s Gingerbread Cupcakes! I mean who can fail to be tempted by the aroma and flavour of the warming spice associated with gingerbread. And then she made them even more inviting by finishing them with super cute gingerbread men sprinkles!
I must encourage you to check out Kat’s recipe for Gingerbread Cupcakes! They’re really easy to make using the melting method and taste divine.
